Affordable Housing for FSU Students

Florida State University has a housing crisis for a plethora of reasons, mainly lack of space for expansion, property taxes increasing, and an increasing undergraduate enrollment.

The solutions to these issues are to end the tax raise and instead pass legislation to encourage to increase the number off-campus housing complexes for students.

You can help resolve these issues in many ways. Below is a link to a petition for the government as well as other ways to assist in furthering this movement.

These are the academic sources used to compile this website.

Welcome

Florida State University has a student housing crisis. Simply put, there is a lack of affordable and quality housing near campus. This makes finding a place to live very complicated for already cash-strapped students. The main factors contributing to this are, the local government increasing property tax rates, and a lack of supply of housing (on and off campus), further compounded by a growing enrollment at Florida State. The purpose of this project is to inform and educate readers about the lack of affordable housing options and to mobilize them to take action against the proposed property tax hike by the local government. With this website, I also aim to galvanize the Florida State University administration to drive the government into action, ultimately enhancing the housing prospects for students by ending the tax raise and increasing the number of housing prospects.
